Imphal, Nov. 17: FC Zalen moved into the semi-final beating Tiddim Road Athletic Union 5-3 via penalty shootout after both teams were locked 1-1 during normal time in the second phase of the 11thManipur State League, 2016, played on knockout basis at main stadium, Khuman Lampak.

The first half was rendered goalless but Tiddim Road took the lead in the second half when L. Sanatomba Singh's pass in the goalmouth found Sh. Meiraba, who ruffled the net in the 64th minute.

But a moment later, FC Zalen came up with the equaliser in the 66th minute when Seikhohao Tuboi beat the keeper to level the score at 1-1 till the final whistle.

In the tie-break,Tiddim Road's Idowu Michael Oluwasegun and K. Phalguni scored. However, L. James Singh and Sh. Meiraba's shots were saved by the Zalen keeper. FC Zalen's Patrick Kamei, Nelson Kom, Chhangte Malsawmkima and Ng Bedeenpar Moyon beat the Tiddim Road keeper and ensured victory.

Sub-Junior Football: DFA Thoubal drubbed Imphal West District Football Association 3-0 in the 20thSub-Junior Boys Inter-district Football Tournament, 2016, played on artificial turf, Khuman Lampak.

M. Naresh Singh scored two goals while Raj Singh chipped in with one for Thoubal team.

In another match, DSA Bishnupur thrashed DSA Kakching 9-2.

David scored four goals while Bishal got three and Romeo Singh fetched two for Bishnupur. The two goals for DSA Kakching was scored by Konalish and Enzashim.

Kang Tornament: Thangmeiband Kendra Kangkhut beat Yaiskul Kendra Kangkhut 14-6 in the Hunger Marchers' kendra-wise League-cum-knockout Kang Tournament, 2016, at IMS Kangshang, Kakwa.

Athletics: Manipur University has said a direct trial for selection of MU Athletics (men & women) teams for 2016-17 will be held on November 30 on its premises for representing MU in the All-India Inter-University Athletics Meet to be held at Anna University, Chennai, from January 12, 2017.
