Guwahati, Feb 19: Hosts Green Valley Sports Club held Rangdajied United Football Club, Shillong to a goalless draw in their zonal round match of the Under-19 I-League at Nehru Stadium here today.
The Shillong outfit were superior in ball possession although they failed to find the desired result. Green Valley, on the other hand, managed to survive some nervous moments and failed to penetrate the Rangdajied defence line.
Rangdajied came close to breaking the deadlock in the sixth minute but failed to find the back of the net. Having received a pass from Sheen Stevenson Sohktung from the right flank, Michael Kurbah’s strike from a favourable position witnessed defender Biswa Dowari making a fine goalline save. Sanjay Boro’s fine flick of the head in the 23rd minute was well saved by Rangdajied custodian Sunshine Kharmujai. Sheen Stevenson Sohktung took a powerful strike on target from a close range but failed to trouble Green Valley glovesman Mulya Rabha as it went above the crossbar in the 27th minute.
In the second half, it was Rangdajied again who managed better ball possession but failed to score.
Banshanlang Nongdhar’s strike from inside the box saw the ball missing the woodwork by a whisker in the 62nd minute.
