Guwahati, Nov. 4: Tridev Buragohain emerged under-19 boys’ champion tallying 5.5 points in the six-round Swiss league South Point School Guwahati Junior Chess Championship that concluded on the school premises here today.
Lakshya Deep Malakar finished second with five points.
Nitish Das scored five points to claim the under-17 boys’ title. Uddipta Gogoi emerged second with four points. Rajashree Dutta was declared champion in the under-17 girls’ event.
In the under-15 boys’ category, Amlan Mahanta was the champion with 4.5 points. Abhilash Gautam ended with 3.5 points for the second position.
Debanjana Purakaystha was named the champion in under-15 girls’ category. Dhruba Jyoti Deka scored 5.5 points to claim the under-13 boys’ title. Jigyashdipta Gogoi and Pranit Malhotra scored five points each and declared second and third respectively on the basis of tiebreak scores.
In under-13 girls’ category, Ananya Kalita got three points to claim the title. Piyalee Mitra scored two points to be second. Manthan Kashyap Datta become the under-11 boys’ champion with five points. Dhrupad Kashyap also scored five points to be declared second on the basis of tiebreak scores.
In the under-11 girls’ category, Anchita Sharma claimed the title by scoring four points. Anoushka Priyam scored 3.5 points and got the second position.
Puskar Basak won the under-9 boys’ title scoring 4.5 points. Jayaditya Das, Ashvin Sharma and Snehasish Sinha scored four points each and got second, third and fourth positions respectively. In the under-9 girls’ event, Alseslha Talukdar got first position scoring 5.5 points. Adreeja Sinha scored four points for second place.
In the under-7 boys’ category, Moksh Satish Iyer won the first position with full six points. Priyangshu Goswami scored 4.5 points for second position.
In the under-7 girls’ category, Baibhabi Baruah got first position by scoring four points. Hiranya Das become the veterans (above-50) champion by scoring five points and Nilkamal Das scored 4.5 points and got second position. Kunjalata Das was declared champion in the women’s category.
