Imphal, Aug. 19: The World Martial Arts Union has invited Thang Ta Federation of India president H. Prem Kumar Singh to attend its general body meeting in South Korea to be held this month.
A demonstration team has also been invited to showcase its skill in the 2015 Chungju World Martial Arts Festival which will be held from August 22-30.
Singh left for South Korea today. The seven-member demonstration team, comprising L. Tompapu Sharma, N. Lamyanba Mangang, W. Clinton, Ng. Dineshwor, P. Hepari Meitei, W. Prithiraj and W. Sonia Devi, led by Jiban Singh, will leave for South Korea on Monday.
Martial artistes from 30 countries are expected to participate in the Chungju Martial Arts Festival, according to a press statement from Thang Ta Federation of India, headquartered in Manipur.
Football: YADA Kangsoibi Mapal registered a 3-2 goal victory over YSWA Utlou in the fifth Dangmei Majabi Football Tournament, 2015, played at Bishnupur Mini Stadium.
M. Abung provided the lead for YADA Kangsoibi Mapal scoring two goals while L. Ngampu chipped in with one goal. YSWA Utlou's N. Naocha and Lamgoulen scored a goal each. YADA player Naotomba, H. Amarjit and YSWA players Kh. Govind and N. Amarjit were booked with yellow cards in the match.
Fencing meet: The Guwahati District Fencing Association will host the 11th Sub-junior, second Junior and 13th senior inter-district fencing championship under the banner of Assam Fencing Association at Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Sarusajai Sports Complex here on October 10 and 11.
Second Division soccer: Narengi Sporting Club and Jewel Star Club were awarded walkovers in their respective matches of Guwahati Sports Association's Second Division Football League here on Wednesday. River Rine Club and Young Amateur Club did not turn up for the scheduled matches at Nehru Stadium here.
