Speaking to The Telegraph on Friday, chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb’s media adviser Sanjay Mishra said a high-level meeting, led by the chief minister, was held at the state secretariat on Thursday to discuss preparedness for the scheduled visit of the princess.

“She will reach India on November 25 and fly from Delhi to Agartala to visit Unakoti on November 27.”

Unakoti is an ancient pilgrimage centre, a major tourist attraction that showcases India’s heritage with carvings and sculptures of deities.

Mishra said, “We have arranged a chopper for the princess up to Kalisahar, from where she will leave by road for Unakoti. Our chief minister will accompany her to Unakoti.” Mishra added that indigenous girls would perform to welcome her at the airport.

“Our girls will be at the airport in traditional attire for welcoming the princess. We will also be giving her cashewnuts, queen pineapples and carambola as a token of our state’s food,” Mishra said.

He said the princess’s visit would boost tourism in the state.
