Guwahati, Sept. 10: Dynamo Club found themselves back in contention for the Abhishek Motors R.G. Baruah Trophy Guwahati Super League football tournament title after Sunrise Athletic Club today handed a 3-0 defeat to NF Railway in a championship leg match at Nehru Stadium here.
Dynamo, trailing behind NF Railway with 16 points in the second spot, will lock horns with the railmen in the last match of the league on Friday to decide the winners.
The railmen are leading the tally with 18 points.
The Sunrise men gained command over the proceedings in the 27th minute when Sayao Thankhul drew first blood with a spectacular goal.
Into the second session, the railmen were aggressive right from the word go but could not overcome the Sunrise defence.
The railway team missed the services of Jilendra Brahma and Sibra Narzary.
The duo had been instrumental in scoring most of the goals for NF Railway in the earlier matches.
Joseph Camara struck the remaining two goals for Sunrise towards the end of the match. He pushed in a well-anticipated pass by Thankhul from the right flank for his first goal in the 85th minute and then drove in a shot fisted away by NF Railway glovesman K. Bijen Singh, taking advantage of defence lapse.
Tomorrow, Gauhati Town Club will play Food Corporation of India SC in a must-win match for survival .
