Imphal: Manipur minister of tribal affairs and hills N. Kayisii launched the state chapter of the Confederation of Indian Tribal Entrepreneurs, under the StartUp India, at Hotel Imphal here on Monday.

This mission was launched after Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh launched StartUp Manipur on March 15.

Biren Singh had said StartUp Manipur would benefit the unemployed youth and entrepreneurs in the state for which a sum of Rs 30 crore was earmarked in the state budget and under this scheme, up to Rs 3 crore will be available for individual start-ups.

Biren Singh also launched the official website www.startupmanipur.in, where applications can be submitted online.

At the launch of the Confederation of Indian Tribal Entrepreneurs for Manipur, Kayisii said those people of the hill areas who want to engage in self-employment have been deprived of assistance and support.

Awareness about this non-political programme, which is being taken up by Union minister of tribal affairs Jual Oram, is being spread among the hill people of Manipur.

The minister said the department will also try to promote local entrepreneurs.

Adim Pamei, vice-chairman of Manipur disaster management authority, said the programme would be helpful in making a positive change for the economically deprived hill villagers.

Entrepreneurs and youths from different hill districts took part in the event.

The minister sought full cooperation from everyone so that the mission for promoting the entrepreneurs would reach out to the deserving beneficiaries and can be developed into a progressive unit of the state.
