Imphal, July 21: Bidyashwor Singh started off on a strong note in the men's individual 10m peep-sight air rifles category in the seventh Imphal East District Shooting Competition, 2016, which got under way at shooting range, Khuman Lampak, here today.
On the first day of the meet, Bidyashwor took a firm grip on the 10m .177 peep-sight air rifles event as the lone shooter of the day. The women's individual 10m air pistol event also got under way.
Altogether 39 shooters, including 11 girls, are participating in the meet which will hold 33 events in different categories such as 10m air pistol, 10m .177 peep-sight air rifle, 25m pistol and 50m small bore rifles prone.
The opening ceremony was attended by S. Krisnamohon Singh, adviser, Manipur Rifles Association, M. Rachandra Singh, honorary secretary National Rifle Association of India and vice-president of MRA, Rk. Dorendrajit Singh, secratary MRA and N. Indrajit Singh, the president of Imphal East District Rifle Association.
