Imphal, June 9: SAI Regional Centre archers clinched the overall team title with a tally of 195 points bagging 55 medals in the 19th Senior, 23rd Junior and Sub-Junior and 2nd Mini State-Level Archery Championship held at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex here.
SAI RC finished the championship with 18 gold, 29 silver and 8 bronze medals as the winners while Public Club claimed the runners-up title with 22 gold, 10 silver and 18 bronze medals fetching 152 points. Yaiskul Athletic Club made it to the third spot with 105 points from 11 gold, 4 silver and 6 bronze medals, among the 15 archery units, who participated in the meet.
SAI RC also added another feather to its cap, when six-year-old Everest Singh along with eight-year-old Public Club archer Avinash Singh were feted with youngest archer prizes.
Others archery units who laid their hands on the gold includes Assam Rifles Archery Club with 7 gold, 4 silver and 6 bronze, Friendship Archery Centre with 4 gold and 7 bronze and South Imphal Cultural Association with 4 gold, 8 silver and 7 bronze medals. Amateur Archery Club with 3 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze medals also did well.
In the concluding session of the Junior Girls’ Recurve competition, SAI RC archer Rebika Devi shot gold with 89 points while compatriots Surmila Devi fetched the silver with 69 points and Amateur Archery Club’s Geeta Devi took the silver with 70 points.
And in the Junior Boys’ Recurve events, Public Club archer Netaji Singh fetched the gold with 96 points while compatriots Suresh Singh shot to silver with 85 and SAI RC player Bidyananda Singh got the bronze with 101 points.
In the Junior Boys’ Compound event, Yaiskul Athletic Club archer Robert Singh took the gold with 107 points while SAI RC M. Anupam fetched the silver with 104 points and Public Club archer Kh. Anthoby claimed the bronze.
