People often need guidelines to set up a new factory. Ignoring the basic principles could be disastrous and result in big losses. On the other hand, a well-planned factory often proves lucrative and grows during the years to come. I am hereby giving you certain basic guidelines for setting any new factory or correcting an existing one according to the feng shui and vaastu principles.

The site should be higher than road level and construction should be at least three feet above the road. Over the period, the factory land generally settles because of the heavy raw materials and machines and the road level outside keeps rising because of regular repairs. This creates a depression in the property, which affects the business in such a massive manner that machines become totally idle because of dwindling orders.

Underground water reservoirs should be dug in the east or north of the northeast sector but definitely away from the northeast and southwest axis, which is considered to be the most vital energy line of the property. Do not ever dig in the south, west or southwest of the factory. This could result in heavy losses much before the production starts. The temple should be built in the northeast of the plot to bless the production inside.

The main factory structure should be built towards the southwest and an independent administrative block can be built to its north. Care should be taken that they are either square or rectangular and the administrative office block does not exceed the height of the factory structure.

Construction should always begin from the southwest and progress towards the northeast. The slope of the factory should always be from south to north. During construction, ensure that no column, pillar or beam runs through the centre of the factory. The energy to different directions radiate from the central area, or Brahmasthan. Hence, this area should not be blocked at any cost and should be well-marked to remind you that no heavy machinery is ever kept there.

The main entry to the factory is most fruitful from north or east or northeast. Auspicious religious symbols can be placed above the entrance to bring in good vibes and ward off evil. The outlet for finished products is excellent from the northwest. The southwest area of the factory should be used either for storage of raw material or for installing the heaviest and the tallest machine. This arrangement gives everlasting stability to the production. All the machines should be fed with raw materials facing north or east.

The material should be processed in such a way that the finished product is collected and stored in the northwest for fast movement after being manually handled and packed in the east and northeast. Water fountains are most productive for attracting wealth and prosperity especially if they are located in the north and have a slow, soft and cascading effect that faces the main entrance to the factory structure. This ensures continuous prosperity in business. Rivers or canals running in the front of the factory are symbolic of wealth, but if they are behind the factory, they bring misfortune. In such cases, a high wall or tall trees planted behind give support and protection to the factory.

Tip of the week: In front, the company’s name should be on the top of the building on a stable platform with a powerful light overhead, as a symbol of taking the company to great heights.
