BARAK CRICKET
Hailakandi, March 11: Royal Challengers Silchar will lock horns with Hailakandi Riders in the final of the Barak Champions League cricket tournament, organised by Friends of the Earth, at Satindra Mohan Dev Stadium in Silchar tomorrow evening.
In the two semi-finals played yesterday at the Silchar Sporting ground, Royal Challengers Silchar defeated District Cricket Playing Association (DCPA) by 79 runs while Hailakandi Riders beat Udharbond Strikers by 40 runs.
Batting first, Royal Challengers scored 239 for nine in their 20 overs. In reply, DCPA were all out for 160 in 18.4 overs.
A hurricane 105-run knock off 59 balls by opener Abhisekh Thakuri helped Royal Challengers pile up the challenging total.
Thirty-one runs came in as extras.
Ravikant Sinha was the wrecker-in-chief for DCPA, hauling five for 43.
For DCPA, Neeraj Chutiya topscored with 42 runs. Suhail Rahman and Rahul Singh of Royal Challengers shared three wickets each. Abhisekh Thakuri was named Man of the Match.
In the other semi-final, Hailakandi Riders batted first, scoring 212 runs for six wickets in the 20 overs. Udharbond Strikers were bundled out for 172 in 17.3 overs.
Sibon Ahmed cracked an unbeaten 61 runs from 24 balls for Hailakandi. Subham Deb and Suraj Roy picked up two wickets each.
For Udharbond, Abjal Hussain Talukdar top-scored with 61 runs. Anuj Sutradhar of Hailakandi claimed three wickets while Sibon Ahmed chipped in with two to be adjudged Man of the Match.
