MANIPUR STATE LEAGUE

Imphal, Aug. 25: North Imphal Sporting Association was leading by a goal against United Sporting Association in the second match of the 11th Manipur State League, sponsored by the Kh. Ingocha Singh Trust, at Mapal Kangjeibung here today when rain played spoilsport.

With the second half just about to begin, a sudden downpour flooded the field and the All-Manipur Football Association had to postpone the match. The other match of the day, FC Zalen versus Neroca FC, also had to be rescheduled.

Former champions North Imphal started off as strong favourites and a misunderstanding between United Sporting goalkeeper Golmei Dihempu and a defender provided Th. Thangamba Meitei the opportunity to score in the 18th minute.

As the players were about to take the field for the second half, the heavy rain flooded the ground and made it impossible to see the line markings on the field.
