Guwahati: The second executive committee meeting of the Indian Railways Promotee Officers' Federation (Irpof), organised by the NF Railway Promotee Officers' Association at Maligaon last week, had stressed the need for timely conduct of a departmental promotion committee (DPC) meeting for promotion to group A scale.
A DPC meeting has been pending for the last three years.
The meeting also discussed that the Railway Board should take cognisance of various difficulties faced by the promotee officers regarding service benefits vis-à-vis direct recruits though officers of both categories share equal responsibilities.
"Such a biased view of the policy-makers affects functioning and growth of the railways," an official said, while releasing the details of the proceedings on Tuesday.
In the meeting, the secretary-general of Irpof, Raman Kumar Sharma, said: "We are currently going through a critical phase; we are forced to contest court cases filed by the direct recruits of group A scale. There is a planned campaign to curtail the rights and privileges of promotee officers and block their promotional avenues. A DPC meeting was held up since 2015-16 for lack of clarity on the reservation issue."
NFR general manager Sanjive Roy attended a function.
