Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday inaugurated Sati Sadhani Kalakshetra at Selengi in Golaghat. The cultural complex is named after Sati Sadhani, the last queen of the Chutia dynasty.
Sonowal said Sati Sadhani will always remain a symbol of sacrifice, strength, self-dignity, freedom and love for motherland and a source of inspiration for all. "The cultural complex will enable the younger generation to emulate the passion and dedication of Sati Sadhani," he said. Sonowal said Assam has a rich cultural heritage which should be projected before tourists and appealed to the people to make the place a tourist hotspot.
The cultural complex, spread over 23 bighas, houses an air-conditioned auditorium, a tourist lodge, boating facility, an amusement park and restaurants.
Agriculture minister Atul Bora, cultural affairs minister Naba Kumar Doley, irrigation minister Keshab Mahanta and Jorhat MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, among others, were present.
