Kokrajhar, Feb. 17: The Peoples' Co-ordination for Democratic Rights (PCDR) today released its first list of candidates for the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) election likely to be held in the first week of April.
The nine names on the list are that of sitting BTC member Pradip Daimary from Bhairabkunda (ST), former Absu president and PCDR chief coordinator Rwngwra Narzary, former Absu general secretary Jiron Basumatary from Jomduar (ST), Somnath from Soraibil, Maoti Bahma Hazowary from Chirang Duar (ST), Guneswar Goyary from Sobaijhar (ST), Suresh Daimary from Manas Serfang (ST), Lekhnath Guragain from Dhira (Open) and Birendra Daimary from Harisinga (ST).
PCDR chief co-ordinator Narzary said the party will announce the other names by February 25.
The PCDR is the third party to declare a list, the other two being the ruling Bodoland Peoples' Front and BTAD Independence Forum. The BPF has so far declared 22 names while the BTAD Independence Forum has declared six names.
Body found: The body of a new born baby was recovered from near a railway track behind a flyover in the heart of Kokrajhar town this morning.
Residents, who informed the railway police about the body, said it was wrapped in polythene.
