Dhemaji, Aug. 23: The civil terminal of the advance landing ground, Pasighat, will be operational and on the country's aviation map soon, said Vinod P. Kavle, the secretary of civil aviation, government of Arunachal Pradesh, today.

Kavle, along with a team of officers comprising East Siang deputy commissioner Tamiyo Tatak, superintendent of police Pranav Tayal, director R. Roniya and deputy director T. Ratan from the department of civil aviation, flying officer Akshay Sharma, zila parishad chairperson Kaling Dai, Pasighat Municipal Corporation chief Kaling Doruk and heads of department jointly inspected all aspects of the facility related to safety, security and other operations in and outside the terminal building.

The advance landing ground was inaugurated by Union minister Kiren Rijiju on August 19 last year.

It was taken over by the IAF in February 2010.

Following an MoU between the state government and ministry of defence in June 2009, the IAF had embarked on an ambitious reconstruction plan to upgrade eight advance landing grounds, including infrastructure development at an overall outlay of nearly Rs 1,000 crore.

Kavle added that chief minister Pema Khandu and the chief secretary held a series of meetings to make the advance landing ground operational for commercial flights by next month.

The secretary was satisfied with the progress and gave specific instructions for certain modifications of the existing facility of the civil terminal.

He also directed to put in place ambulance, fire-tender, trolleys, necessary security personnel, electronic equipment and early construction of arrival/departure terminals between the civil terminal and runway.

Kavle also visited the construction site of the upcoming Pasighat outdoor stadium.

Tayal briefed him about the security arrangements while the director of civil aviation R. Ronya presented a report on the progress.
