Imphal, Feb. 3: NMPC rider O. Paikhomba claimed the top spot in the senior show-jumping event of the 12th DGAR Cup State Equestrian Championship, 2015 held at Mapal Kangjeibung today.

Prakash Bhandari of ITPC settled for the second spot while O. Seitajit Singh and K. Herojit, both of K & MMRS, were in the third and fourth spots.

In the junior tent-pegging lance individual event, KPSC rider Leisemba Takhellambam grabbed the gold medal while S. Jameson of K & MMRS fetched the second spot and N. Dhaneshor of ESC and N. Anish of K & MMRS had to settle for the third and fourth spots.

Eastern Student Club rider Kuber Singh delivered his team's first gold medal in the junior show jumping event while N. Jackson of K & MMRS and S. Nongpoknganba of CHPC bagged the silver and bronze medals.

In the senior tent-pegging lance individual, Th. Kaoba of CHPC claimed the top spot while Rameshor Singh and A. Ranjan, both of Eastern Students Club, took the second and third spot.

Lt Gen Bipin Rawat, AVSM, YSM, SM, VSM GOC 3 Corps, distributed the prizes to the winners.

Men's open hockey: Sashastra Seema Bal, Lucknow, moved into the quarter-final, defeating Hockey Union by 4-0 goals in the 1st W. Thoibi Devi Challenge Men's Open Hockey Trophy 2015 at Khuman Lampak hockey stadium today.

However, Hockey Union still made it to the quarter-final.

However Radial Club, Nagaon, and MEIRAA crashed out of the meet from Pool A.

SSB Lucknow dominated the proceedings with L. Joychandra Singh scoring the first goal in the 26th minute for the lead. Apir Ansari consolidated for SSB in the 31st minute.

O. Gunamani Singh in the 39th minute and H. Surchandra Singh in the 59th minute struck a goal each to ride into the quarter-final in style.

In the other matches, Khongman Students Club beat South Eastern Youth Organisation by 5-1 goals while Posterior Hockey Academy Manipur beat Radial Club, Nagaon, by 8-3 goals to move into the quarter-final as well.

In pool B, SEYO Singjamei, AMHA Moirang, KHSC Khongman and YCCIC Ahallup have booked quarter-final berths as well.

Veteran's cricket: Model Club (A) posted an eight-wicket victory over NAPSA Kha Imphal in the third T-20 Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament 2014-15 at Langthabal public ground today.

Batting first, NAPSA built up 114 runs for four wickets from 20 overs with T. Bhogen topscored with 42 runs.

Model bowler Ruhindro bagged two wickets.

In reply, Model Club reached the target, losing two wickets from 16.4 overs with Tomba Singh remaining not out with 77 runs from 47 balls to collect the Man of the Match award.

Seven-a-side football: WFC Moirang Khunou beat VASI Waikhom by 4-3 goals in the 1st L. Ibopishak Singh Seven-a-Side Memorial Football Tournament 2015 at Haobam Marak in Imphal West. Arora United Laipham Khunou beat RFC Khamnam Leirak by 6-2 goals.
