Voice of India Debojit Saha extends his best wishes for the year ahead and extols the joys of fatherhood

First of all, I would like to convey my heartiest New Year greetings to you. The way you have always stood by me makes me all the more humble. And I do hope that your wishes and blessings will be with me in the New Year too.

For me, the year could not have started on a better note.

Imagine my joy when I saw my daughter Danika — all of 11 months — taking her first steps gingerly on New Year’s Day, filling our hearts with pride. I am sure a first-time father like me will know what it feels like. You push, cajole and goad your child to walk and he/she will simply ignore you. And then, when I was least expecting it, there she was, on her own, taking her first steps on her tiny feet.

That was an incredible moment. Danika will be celebrating her first birthday on February 9 and I simply cannot wait for the day to come.

Speaking of the New Year, I am certain that most of you must have taken your resolutions. It is a custom I never fail to adhere to year after year. It has become a habit of sorts by now.

After having seen through the initial few years of my career in Mumbai, I am now planning to go full steam ahead to playback singing in Bollywood.

I know that it is not an easy job and the competition is tough but I am confident because of the positive vibes from people who matter.

I had some talks with people like music director Mukesh Bhatt and I am looking forward to working with him in the next couple of months.

I have also got some other assignments lined up.

You will be seeing and hearing from me a lot now, I assure you.

I am also planning to work with my brother-in-law Dhruv, who is also a very good musician and keen to make a mark here. Besides, I also plan to reinvent myself as a music director very soon.

However, I can assure you that I will continue doing stage shows, the lifeline of a performer. That is the place where I can know my fans from close quarters. All said and done, I am busy with the musical reality show I am performing and it has really got a good viewer response so far.
