Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday constituted co-ordination committees for the seven northeastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura. The committees will help maintain better co-ordination between the party and the Congress legislature parties. The committees will have PCC presidents and leaders of the Congress Legislature Parties as members. Two unidentified gunmen robbed Rs 20 lakh from a legislator?s personal secretary in Kohima on Tuesday. The secretary and the driver of MLA, R. Khing, had withdrawn the money from the State Bank of India, Kohima main branch, and were heading towards the MLA?s house in Bayav?. A team of Dimaraji Revival Demand Committee will put pressure on the Centre to implement their demand of a separate Dimaraji state. The team, led by Mukteswar Kemprai, president of the committee, will meet Union home minister Shivraj Patil and other Members of Parliament. The 12th biennial conference of Agricultural Statistical Service Officers Association has called for according gazetted status to inspector of statistics (agriculture) and time scale for employees serving in the same post for more than 15 years.
