Haflong, Oct. 29: A self-styled sergeant major of the pro-talks faction of the DHD, Naikhlai Dimasa, was gunned down today by members of the rival faction of the outfit at his residence at Doyangbra in North Cachar Hills district. Kokrajhar: Police recovered a crude bomb from the residence of Abdul Mazid, a resident of Tursibil Harabanga under Gossaigaon sub-division in Kokrajhar district on Wednesday morning. The bomb had been kept by his son-in-law Jaffar Haq. Dhubri: A resident of Dumordoh village under Gouripur police station, Mukul Roy, 37, died when a speeding truck knocked him down on NH 31 at umordoh Tiniali on Tuesday night. Kokrajhar: Ten shops were gutted near the railway gate in Kokrajhar on Tuesday night. The fire started from a garment store around 1am and later spread to the adjoining shops. Property worth over Rs 20 lakh was gutted.
