Shop looted Leader dies Man killed Fire

Shop looted

Sivasagar, Jan. 17: Six armed men today allegedly looted an amount of Rs 50,000 in cash from a grocery shop, owned by Panchan Shah, at Lahdoigarh under Namtola police station near the Assam-Nagaland border in Charaideo sub-division of the district.

Leader dies

Jorhat: Freedom fighter Tileswar Bordoloi, 88, died at the Jorhat Christian Medical Centre (Mission hospital) here on Monday night. He was cremated at the Tarajan crematorium on Tuesday.

Man killed

Dibrugarh: Madan Kherwal, 40, of Nagakata under Bamunbari police outpost near Moran town in the district was allegedly killed by Mangal Keot, 26, and his five associates on Monday night. On Tuesday, Keot surrendered at Moran police station and confessed his crime. He said he had killed Kherwal after his pet dog bit Moran’s goat.

Fire

Barpeta: A jute godown along with some houses were gutted in a fire that broke out on Tuesday morning at Sorbhog town in Barpeta district. Property worth Rs 1.5 crore was destroyed in the fire.
