NDFB arrest

Kokrajhar, Nov. 24: Security forces arrested Naina Goyary, 25, wife of senior NDFB leader Bishnu Goyary alias G. Bidai, the deputy chief of Boroland Army of NDFB (Songbijit) from Mainapwthar under Gobardona police station in Salbari sub-division of Baksa district last evening. Police said the team recovered two hand grenades and 10 AK-47 rifles.

Worker killed

Kokrajhar: Jagadish Daimari, 40, a worker of Udalguri district committee of Boroland Peoples’ Front, was killed when unidentified persons attacked him with sharp weapons at his Golmachowk residence under Udalguri police around 12.30am on Saturday.

Vessel update

Dhubri: A cargo vessel from Bangladesh, carrying three turbines and machinery to Gerukamukh for the Lower Subansiri hydroelectric project, reached Dewner-Alga char in the district on Saturday, a source said.

Jawans held

Dhubri: Two jawans of Assam Battalion — Rebati Mohan Roy and Saiful Ali — were arrested on Friday night by police for their alleged involvement in arson at a businessman’s house at Matiabag under Gauripur police station in the district a couple of days ago.

Office opened

Dhubri: A sub-treasury office for South Salmara-Mancachar sub-division of Dhubri district will be opened at Hatsinghimari on November 30, after repeated requests from the people of Hatsinghimari.
