Sec. 144 clamped Memorial Public toilets Special drive CM visit

Sec. 144 clamped

Nagaon, Aug. 2: Section 144 CrPC was imposed in central Assam’s Dhing town following a clash between two communities which led to a road blockade this morning. Goons threw beef on the premises of a temple. A leaflet asking the administration to evacuate the temple as the area is minority- dominated sparked chaos in the area. Civilians blocked the highway between Nagaon and Dhing in protest.

Memorial

Guwahati: Assam cultural affairs minister Pranati Phukan said the work on the memorial of music maestro Bhupen Hazarika being constructed at Jalukbari here will be completed by November next year.

Public toilets

Guwahati: GMC said it would set up 11 public toilets in the city at Jalukbari, Adabari, Maligaon, Bharalumukh, Khanapara, Beltola Bazar, Basistha Chariali, GMCH (Bhangagarh), Garal Bazar, Bhattapara Chowk and Bhattapara PHE.

Special drive

Guwahati: The Kamrup (metro) district transport office launched a special drive against unauthorised parking along the NH37 from Basistha Chariali and Khanapara and seized five trucks. It collected fines of Rs 29,500.

CM visit

Kohima: Nagaland chief minister T.R. Zeliang called on Union home minister Rajnath Singh at his official residence and discussed about security issues and related expenditure.
