11 hurt in mishap
• Shillong, Aug. 31: At least 11 passengers were injured after an overspeeding night super bus, on its way to Guwahati, overturned on National Highway 6 near Sumer village in Meghalaya's Ri Bhoi district around 4.15am today. The injured were shifted to Umsning community health centre in Ri Bhoi district, Shillong civil hospital and Guwahati.
Flood report
• Guwahati: The daily flood bulletin of Assam State Disaster Management Authority on Thursday said 60,867 people are still affected in 183 villages in Dhemaji, Nagaon, Morigaon, Chirang and Golaghat districts while 10,738 are taking shelter in 37 relief camps.

• Tinsukia: The Tinsukia district administration on Thursday launched a website, Uttaran, which will provide career counselling to students. The portal also has a section called e-treasure which provides study materials for various exams.
Fire damage
• Dhemaji: At least 78 houses and shops were gutted in a blaze that broke out at the market area in Daporijo in Upper Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday. No casualty has been reported. The fire was caused by a short circuit.
Accident
• Jorhat: Lakhi Gogoi, 42, died when he was hit by a motorcycle while crossing the road at Kenduguri here on Thursday. The motorist, Pranjal Pratim Barua, was seriously injured and admitted to Jorhat Medical College and Hospital.

• Guwahati: NIA sleuths on Wednesday arrested suspected NDFB (S) cadre Sudem Narzary alias Sujukhang for his alleged involvement in the massacre of 12 people at Shantipur village in Kokrajhar district in 2014.
Bike rally
• Tezpur: The All Adivasi Students' Association of Assam took out a motorcycle rally on Wednesday and Thursday demanding Scheduled Tribe status to the tea community, wage hike, land documents for Adivasis and high schools in gardens.
Smart class
• Dhemaji: A smart class, under the Chief Minister's Adhunik Shiksha Yojana, was launched on Thursday at Nehru Memorial Higher Secondary School at Aalo in West Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh.
Highway plan
• Guwahati: Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday directed the hills area development department to take steps to construct a state highway from Lanka in Hojai district to Haflong via Umrangsu in Dima Hasao district in order to improve connectivity.
