Guwahati, Dec. 5: All-round performance by Amrit Giri helped Noonmati Cricket Academy trounce Ankurjyoti Cricket Academy by six wickets in the first match of the 11th Dinesh Baruah memorial cricket tournament which got underway at the Latasil playground here today.
After capturing two quick wickets for seven runs in 2.5 overs to bundle out the host outfit for 88 in 19.5 overs, Giri remained not out at 24 as the Noonmati team reached their target losing four wickets in 19.2 overs. Giri hit three fours and a huge six in his 33-ball innings. Ankurjyoti Club is organising the tournament. Opener Raj Hussain contributed 28 to consolidate the Noonmati Academy’s position.
Besides, some wayward bowling by the Ankurjyoti players, giving away 28 extra runs, made the task easier for the Noonmati outfit.
