Guwahati, July 14: Nikhilesh Sarma of Guwahati and Kaveri Phukan of Sivasagar annexed the under-19 boys’ and girls’ titles respectively in the 1st All Assam Ranking Badminton tournament that concluded at the Hatigarh Indoor Stadium here this evening.

Nikhilesh got the better of Jorhat’s Abhishek Phukan 21-18, 21-16 while Kaveri defeated Mridusmita Phukan of Tinsukia 21-16, 21-19 in the finals.

Kayshyap Neog of Tinsukia and Bornali Konwar of Dibrugarh lifted the under-16 boys’ and girls’ crowns, beating Tridip Boro of Dibrugarh 21-13, 21-12 and Mayuri Phukan of Tinsukia 18-21, 21-16, 21-6 respectively.

In the under-13 age group, Pragyan Jyoti Gogoi of Nagaon and Ashmita Chaliha of Guwahati lifted the titles. In the finals, Pragyan outplayed Rajsekhar Das of Nagaon 21-15, 21-11 while Ashmita came back from a set behind to overcome Upasana Buragohain of Guwahati 18-21, 21-10, 21-17.

Kingshuk Bora of Nagaon and Nikita Phukan of Jorhat won the under-10boys’ and girls’ events. The duo of Arup Burgohain and Vijay Barman won double crown in the men’s veterans’ event.
