Kokrajhar, May 27: Bodoland Territorial Council chief Hagrama Mohilary today rubbished allegations of embezzlement of funds and slammed the People's Coordination for Democratic Rights (PCDR) for being critical of his BPF-led council's development work.

Mohilary said Opposition leaders were misleading people by making corruption an issue to gain political mileage. he said no Bodoland People's Front (BPF) workers or village council development committee chairmen were involved in misuse of development funds as alleged by the PCDR.

Mohilary accused the Opposition of collecting job cards of beneficiaries to create an issue. He alleged that the Opposition had collected Rs 50 from every job-card holder to organise the protest.

The PCDR had on Monday organised a demonstration against corruption and fraudulent practices at the level of village council development committees and in the implementation of MGNREGA and other development schemes in the BTC area and had sought the intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the matter. They also filed an FIR against some village council development committee chairmen.

Mohilary today said members of the Opposition party had little knowledge and were unreliable.

He questioned why PCDR representatives in the council had maintained silence on the alleged corrupt practices in the recently held Assembly session and were instead holding demonstrations now.
