Aizawl, June 21: Mizoram government employees of the accounts department have showed no signs of withdrawing their “pen-down” strike in support of their demand for a grade system.
The gradation will entail a hike in their salaries, which the employees said, would not hit the state coffers hard. But the ongoing strike could result in the nearly 3,000 employees and pensioners going without payments for the current month.
Leaders of Mizoram Audit and Accounts Service Association today said their demand, if fulfilled, would result in an annual outflow of Rs 22,000 only, compared to other sections’ demands which would drain crores of rupees from the coffers.
Tanker strike: The supply of petroleum products in the Northeast is likely to be affected from June 26, with the Assam Petroleum Mazdoor Union calling an indefinite strike.
President of union, Munin Mahanta, today told reporters that little had been done to fulfil their demands.
