Manipur lead

Manipur girls bagged the overall champions title collecting 40 points in the 24th Junior National Fencing Championship held at indoor stadium, Khuman Lampak.

Imphal, Nov. 15: Manipur girls bagged the overall champions title collecting 40 points in the 24th Junior National Fencing Championship held at indoor stadium, Khuman Lampak.

Kerala settled for the runners-up title picking up 22 points while Punjab collected 16 points to finish third.

In the boys' category, SSCB finished with 39 points to finish on top while Punjab fetched the runners-up title with 10 points and hosts Manipur took the third spot with seven points.

On the last day of the épée (individual) boys event, Tanisveer Singh of Punjab claimed the gold.

In the women's individual foil event for girls, W. Thobi Devi of Manipur claimed the gold.

Altogether 403 fencers, including 170 girls, participated in the meet.
