Imphal, Sept. 2: Manipur Brothers Sporting Union inflicted a crushing 4-0 defeat on Kangchup Road Young Physical and Sporting Association today to stay atop the teams’ tally of the 9th S. Birendra Singh Super Division Football League Tournament played at Lilong Chajing ground in Imphal West.
With the win, Manipur Brothers Sporting Union collected 14 points to stay ahead of the other five teams in the league organised by Imphal West District Football Association.
The Manipur Brothers team proved its mettle and ensured their complete dominance in the match by making mincemeat of the Kangchup Road team.
Eleven minutes into the game, Boipu struck for the first goal for Manipur Brothers and the team took a 1-0 lead in the first half.
In the second half, Kangchup Road tried to break the shackles but their attempts were brutally thwarted. Manipur Brothers played a fast game with long passes and was rewarded in the 50th minute when Dhanajoy Singh fetched the second goal. Paolin netted the third goal in the 77th minute followed by another by Premjit Singh three minutes later to bring the 4-0 victory for Manipur Brothers.
In another match, Kuki Sporting Club Lambulane held Dimapur Road Athletic Organisation to a 1-1 draw.
The first half remained goalless and even the second half seemed to take the same route, but in the 72 minute, I. Shanta Singh netted in a goal for Dimapur Road. Their euphoria did not last long as Kuki Sporting Club player Goumilum fetch the equaliser in the 83 minute.
In the L. Sangita Devi memorial first division football league tournament organised by Imphal West District Football Association, South Imphal Sporting Club held Youth Progressive Association to a 1-1 draw.
L. Iboton Singh of South Imphal provided the first goal in the 65th minute only to be equalised in the 75th minute by Youth Progressive Association player Mangboi for the draw today.

Takhel Youth Welfare Organisation defeated Youth Development Organisation 2-1 in the M. Ibobi Singh Memorial 1st Division Football League Tournament played at Khabeisoi ground in Imphal East.
