Imphal, June 12: H. Manglemba fetched Manipur Police Sports Club their first gold medal in the senior boys’ sabre event of the Hijam Jugeshwar Singh Memorial Running Trophy in the 4th Governor’s Cup State-Level Fencing Championship held at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium today.

In the sabre final event, H. Manglemba got the better of N. Solik of Oriental Levellers Association by 15-12 points to annex the top spot, while Solik had to be content with the silver. The bronze went to A. Rupachandra of Meitei Ipa Ipu Salai Inat Khongul Liba Lup and A. Ashanta of SAI RC.

M. Loidam Devi of SAI RC defeated M. Shandhyarani Devi of Meitei Ipa Ipu Salai team by 15-8 points to win the gold in the final of the senior girls’ epee event. Shandhyarani Devi had to contend with the silver.

Meitei Ipa Ipu Salai fencer Th. Diana Devi bagged the gold in the senior girls’ sabre event by defeating M. Jogitabali Devi by 15-9 points. W. Reni Devi of SAI RC and K. Laxmi Devi of Manipur Police Sports Club took the bronze.

In the junior boys’ foil event, Th. Rajiv Singh of Meitei Ipa Ipu Salai team won the gold while Ksh. Loyalakpa Singh of the same club claimed the silver.

In sabre event of the junior boys, L. Surendra Singh of SAI RC and W. Hemanta Singh of Meitei Ipa Ipu Salai team claimed the bronze medals. The final match will be played between N. Solik of Oriental Levellers Association and A. Ashanta Singh of SAI RC will be played tomorrow.

Th. Sophiya Devi of Meitei Thang Satjal Cultural Association and Kh. Bandana Devi of SAI RC fetched the bronze medals in the junior girls’ epee event. The final match will be played between Th. Victoria Devi of Meitei Ipa Ipu Salai team and R.K. Rebika Devi of SAI RC during the concluding session tomorrow.
