Guwahati, April 5: Ulubari Higher Secondary School and Modern English School, Bharalumukh, today marched into the quarterfinals of the ongoing 10th Amulya Das, Raishmodi Nunisa, Lilabati Lekharu and Biswanath Ghosal all-Assam prizemoney inter-school cricket tournament.
Ulubari School prevailed over Little Flower High School by five wickets, while Modern School defeated Jnandeep Academy by eight wickets.
In another match today, Students Faculty beat Sridhi Sai Vidya Mandir by 47 runs to book a knockouts berth.
Put to bat first, Little Flower School were restricted to 118 for three in the stipulated 15 overs and Ulubari School reached 119 for five.
Skipper Bidyutjyoti Baruah topscored for Little Flower with a hurricane 50, facing 33 deliveries.
Chinmoy Kashyap contributed a quickfire 26 (4x5) facing only 15 balls while 20 runs came from the bat of Farhad Choudhury.
For Ulubari, Kishore Baruah topscored with 35 runs, while Ratul Rajbongshi (19) and Pradip Mahanta (17) were the other notable scorers.
Bidyutjyoti Baruah was named Man of the Match.
Earlier in the day, Students Faculty elected to bat first and posted 126 for six in 15 overs. Sridhi Sai boys were bundled out for 79 in 14.1 overs.
Ritesh Chetry (34) was the top scorer for Students Faculty and Biraj Kumar made 15 runs. Chunoo Singh scored 23 for Sridhi Sai.
Ritesh Chetry, who later claimed a wicket for 16 runs, was Man of the Match. Ranjay Kumar and Krishna Sharma shared two wickets each for 10 and 20 runs respectively.
In the last match of the day, Jnandeep elected to bat first and put up only 74 runs for nine wickets in 15 overs. Modern School lost two wickets en route to 78 off 11.5 overs.
Jintu Rajbongshi (14) and Ishan Basumatary (13) were the notable scorers for Jnandeep, while Sarwan Gupta of Modern School notched four wickets for nine runs. Ravi Basfore claimed two for 12.
Sarwan Gupta and Bikash Roy of Modern School remained unbeaten on 22 and 20 respectively.
Sarwan and Ishan were jointly named Men of the Match.
In tomorrow’s matches, Star Academy will play Albert English School and Pragjyotish School (B) will take on Ulubari School.
