SHILLONG LEAGUE
Shillong, Aug. 23: Langsning got their first points on the board with a 3-0 victory over Nongkrem in the ongoing Shillong Premier League (SPL) at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here today.
After losing their opener last week, Langsning rebounded with a goal in the 15th minute through Kyrshan Lyngshing and looked comfortable on the pitch.
Nongkrem, who were promoted from the first division last season, have so far had a tough time in the big leagues. Sixteen goals have been scored in the first five games of the SPL this season and Nongkrem have conceded 10 of these. Nongkrem were able to fend off Langsning for nearly 50 minutes before Bickyson Kharkongor scored in the 62nd and 79th minutes.
Meghalaya Police will take on Malki at 3.30pm tomorrow.
Cricket package: The Meghalaya Cricket Association (MCA) has announced a development package for the West Khasi Hills District Cricket Association, including two concrete pitches and equipment. The MCA has also emphasised the need to revive women's cricket.
