Nagaon, Aug. 26: Langhing defeated Hamren 2-0 to enter the quarter-final of the 11th All Karbi Anglong Inter-sub Association Women Football Tournament at Diphu playground today.

Organised by Greater Diphu Sports Association, Langhing led Hamren 1-0 till the end of the first half.

Langhing striker Sanju Basumatary’s shot in the fifth minute was skilfully foiled by Hamren goalkeeper Bisonika Tissopi.

Basumatary’s second attempt in the 23rd minute brought the first goal of the match.

In the 51th minute, Basumatary made best use of a penalty shot to score the second goal.

Basumatary was namedWoman of the Match.

Langhing defeated Hangjanglangso 4-0 and Khotkhoti defeated Dokmoka 1-0 in two first round matches on Wednesday.

Six of the nine teams have entered the quarter-finals, including Hamren.

Last year’s champions Phuloni and runners-up Dokmoka have entered the quarters directly.

Kheroni will take on Rajapathar in the last match of the league rounds tomorrow.
