Imphal, Oct. 25: Shillong Lajong FC have vowed to give a gift to Manipuri women with a win over HAL Bangalore on the occasion of the Nigol Chakkouba festival at Khuman Lampak main stadium on Friday.

Shillong Lajong FC held a press meet at the All Manipur Sports Association, along with AMFA officials, here yesterday.

Pradhyum Reddy, UEFA A Licencee and also the chief coach of Shillong Lajong FC, said there were no major injury problems in his team.

Though seven state players are supposed to be in the team, one had to sit it out because of an injury.

Reddy added that as a team, they were all set to give the football lovers of Manipur a great game to watch.

They also expected good attendance and support from the state, as they had opted for it as their home turf.

The chief coach added that they were maintaining consistency for the last three to four years and moving ahead at a good pace.

“Hopefully, we will have a good run in the league and give the Northeast a good reason to feel proud of the team,” he added.

Shillong Lajong FC will play their next game against Air India on November 10 at the same venue.

Masters’ athletics: The Kamrup (metro) Masters’ Athletics Championship will be held at the Sarusajai sports complex on November 6, adds our staff reporter from Guwahati.

The district squad for the 20th Assam Masters Athletics Championship, to be held at Mangaldoi from December 27 to 30, will be selected from the meet.

Participants will have to be above the age of 35 years.
