Guwahati, May 24: Kendriya Vidyalaya Borjhar and Kendriya Vidyalaya Khanapara registered victories in the 8th Dhan Sena Sinha inter-school cricket tournament at Latasil playground here today.
KV Borjhar defeated KV Maligaon by 38 runs while KVK drubbed Maria’s Public School by eight wickets.
In the first pre-quarterfinal today, KV Borjhar opted to bat and posted 121 for nine in 20 overs. Bakul Rabha topscored with 32 off 31 balls while Aman Chhetri, too, paced his innings well with a crafty 24 off 27 balls. Ikramul Ali chipped in with 16 runs off 15 balls.
For KV Maligaon, Deepjyoti Laskar bagged three for 19 in four overs. Bibhash Kalita and Jyotishmoy Biswas bagged a wicket each.
In reply, KV Maligaon were bowled out for 83 in 19.1 overs. Barring Jyotishmoy Biswas who remained unbeaten on 16 and Sudip Talukdar who also made a patient 16, the rest failed to deliver. Ikramul Ali scalped three for 14 while Abhijit Rabha took two wickets for nine runs. Man of the Match Bakul Rabha bagged one wicket for five runs in 3.1 overs.
In the second pre-quarterfinal, Maria’s opted to bat and were restricted to 92 for five in 20 overs. Saumyadip Mukherjee was unbeaten on 28 off 50 balls. Jyotirmoy Deka and Sancheet Pasari with 15 each were the only other notable contributors.
Bishal Das, Prabha Pandey and Arunav Sarma bagged a wicket each.
KVK, in reply, achieved the target with ease, posting 94 for two in 13.1 overs. Man of the Match Arunav Sarma and Palash Gogoi remained unbeaten on 33 and 28 runs each while Aman Kalita scored 25. For Maria’s, Sancheet and Vishal Maheswari bagged a wicket each as consolation.
