Zunheboto, March 2: To many, children are the mirror images of God. Canato Zhimomi sees divinity even in greeting cards depicting cartoons of children.

Canato, 22, is trying to spread the message of Christianity through cards that depict tribal children in traditional attire. Son of a pastor, he sells the cards cheap and there is apparently no shortage of buyers both within and outside the state.

?I want to educate people about our culture and religion through my work. Children are my favourite subject because they make people smile,? he says.

The Zunheboto-based cartoonist has been making cards along with elder brother Aaronto, a computer buff, for two years now. Together, they have sold as many as 10,000 cards so far.

In one of the cards, a girl is lying in a field against the backdrop of a water-coloured sky. A line from the Bible completes the picture: ?He makes me lie down in green pastures (Psalm 23:2).?

Another depicts a Sema girl and a boy under a huge leaf and a red heart in between. The caption reads: ?Do not forget to do good and share (Hebrews 13:16).?

Though drawing is his passion, Canato has not thought of taking it up as a full-time profession.

?I want to go for higher studies in theology, though I will continue to draw,? the Patkai College graduate says.

Canato?s brother is his constant companion and selling greeting cards from their shop, appropriately named Creatrix, ensures a steady flow of cash. The cards are printed in either Jorhat or Golaghat towns of neighbouring Assam.

The siblings are good musicians, too, and both displayed their abundant talent during the silver jubilee of the United Revival Fellowship here last weekend. Aaronto played the drums during the event, while Canato sang hymns.

Several senior politicians and security personnel were part of the congregation on all three days.

The United Revival Fellowship is a Protestant group.
