Imphal, April 28: Khurai Polo Club outplayed Tekcham Polo Club (B) team by 7-2 goals in the 24th N. Hazari State Polo Tournament played at Imphal Pologround here today.
In another match, Meiraba Polo Club (A) drubbed Chingkhei Hunba Polo Club (B) by 10-0 goals in another one-sided show today.
The experienced Khurai Polo Club players soon took over the match as their less experienced Tekcham Polo Club counterparts failed to offer enough resistance. Riding hard and making good connection with the ball, Khurai Polo Club players Th. Basanta Singh and Th. Mocha Singh sent in two quick goals within two minutes of the game.
Despite being pushed to the backfoot, the Tekcham Polo Club players manage to come up with their first reply as S. Ranjit Singh scored in the first chukker.
However, the Khurai Polo Club players gave their opponents a fitting reply as Th. Kaoba Singh and P. Jotin Singh added two more goals to make it 4-1 in their favour in the first chukker.
The second chukker saw both the teams struggling to consolidate theirs scores. Khurai Polo Club came on top again with P. Jotin Singh netting the ball to give his team the fifth goal.
The third chukker was barren and the score remained 5-1 in favour of Khurai.
In the final chukker, Tekcham player S. Dhanakumar Singh managed to net his team’s second goal of the match, but the Khurai men soon took over as Th. Kaoba Singh and P. Jotin Singh came up with two more goals to romp home with a 7-2 victory.
In the match between Meiraba Polo Club (A) and Chingkhei Hunba Polo Club (B) team, the latter proved no match for the experienced Meiraba team.
For the winners, Meiraba Polo Club’s L. Thomson Singh opened the score in the first chukker and pushed home two more goals in the third chukker. O. Rozer Singh also chipped in with one goal each in the second, third and fourth chukkers.
H. Papak Singh scored two goals in the second and fourth chukker. I. Sachindra Singh fetched two more goals in the fourth chukker for the 10-0 victory today.
