Imphal, April 15: IRYC Keishampat registered a narrow win of 7-6 runs over UKC Saiton in the 28th junior girls' state-level softball championship which got under way at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.

In the junior boys' category, UKC Saiton defeated Sun Flower Narankonjil by 18-2 runs to progress into the next round.

In the 27th sub-junior boys, Sun Flower Narankonjil got the better of YOC Naharup by 6-2 runs while UKC Saiton drubbed Naharol Yaipha Thourang Club by 27-8 runs.

Five teams - Sun Flower, UKC Saiton, YOC Naharup, MC Lilong Chajing and Naharol Yaipha Thourang Club - are participating in the sub-junior category. In the junior boys and girls' events, seven teams - Sun Flower, UKC Saiton, YOC Naharup, Naharol Yaipha Thourang Club, MU and GCLC Uripok - are participating in the meet.
