HIM Public thrash Imphal Public

School football

SCHOOL FOOTBALL

Imphal, May 13: HIM Public School defeated Imphal Public Higher Secondary School by 3-0 goals today to move to the pre-quarters of the first state-level private school sports meet at Tabungkhok in Imphal West.

Imphal Public School put up a tough fight in the first half but HIM Public School stole the show with S. Netrajit finding the net in the 20th minute for the lead.

HIM Public School increased pace in the later part of the match and got two more goals through Ningtamba in the 41st minute and Ng. Jonish in the 47th minute for the victory today.

In the other matches, Royal Academy got the better of Lamjing Meira Sindam Shang by 4-3 goals via tie-break to sail into the pre-quarterfinals as well. Goalless during regulation time, both teams were exposed to the tie-break with Royal Academy slamming home four goals from Stephen, Jonas, Seisilien Khongsai and Meisulang. For Lamjing Meira, S. Sadananda, Gautam and K. Sanayaima managed to find the net.

Eagle English School also moved into the pre-quarterfinals beating Success School 4-0. Th. Keith, R.V. Worthing, N. Lawrence and Thorshong Kashung scored for Eagle.

In the meantime, St Anthony got a walkover against Divine Standard English School after the latter failed to report for the match.

Trials: The All Manipur Football Association has informed that players recommended by DSA/DFA to attend trials for the AIFF Under-17 World Cup Academy should report at Khuman Lampak artificial turf on May 23 and 24.
