Guwahati, March 16: City Cricket Club rode an all-round performance by Ranji player Gokul Sarma to inflict a 21-run defeat on River Rine Club in today?s match of the Madhab Ram Bora Guwahati Sports Association first division cricket league at Nehru Stadium here.

Electing to bat first, City Cricket Club compiled 179 losing nine wickets in the stipulated 35 overs before restricting River Rine to 158 for nine. Gokul Sarma scored 30 runs and claimed two wickets, conceding 25 runs.

Ashok Talukdar topscored for City Cricket Club with 43. For River Rine, Arup Saha (25) and Kasim Ali (21) were the top scorers. Pranob Das of City Cricket Club claimed three wickets while Saifuddin Ahmed took two wickets. Santipur AC will play Gauhati Town Club tomorrow.
