April 3: The thought that your children are playing and safe while you shop is no longer a dream.

The city’s first game parlour for children will open its doors on Saturday. Christened Playzone, the centre will be set up at Dona Planet, one of the most happening malls on GS Road.

From shooting games to mechanised animals, children will have a whole new world to themselves at the mall while their parents can shop to their hearts’ content peacefully. “The amusement centre will keep the kids entertained while their parents shop,” the promoter of Playzone, Subham Sarawgi, said.

Sarawgi said though children would be the main focus, the zone would also have something for the grown-ups. “We have tried to create a kid’s paradise, which also appeals to the taste of grown-ups. Our target age group is from five years to 50 years,” he said.

Playzone will have altogether 24 coin-operated games, including skill, thrill, gift and redemption games and rides. “Nowadays, kids generally do not have enough options to play. The games we have aim to infuse spontaneity and imaginative skills in children,” Sarawgi said.

Ahmedabad-based H.G. Electronics, a company specialising in production of amusement games and rides, will supply the gaming units.

Sarawgi said they have taken up the venture, as there was a great demand for quality amusement for the whole family in the city.

“The amusement industry is booming in the country and everybody irrespective of his or her age wants to spend quality leisure time,” he said.

New games at the zone such as gift games, where the player has to grab chocolates and other items with a claw, which is operated by joysticks, is likely to be an instant hit with the children. Another attractive game for the children will be “walking animals”.

“Children can sit on the back of any of the mechanised animals and insert a coin to drive it with a steering wheel. Accelerators and breaks are on both sides to control speed,” Sarawgi said.

The other games, which will be available at the centre, are air hockey, fortune wheel, helicopter, bouncee and gun master.

“Gun master is a video game where the player can aim and shoot,” he said.
