Nagaon, Nov. 13: Four persons have been picked up for last night?s grenade attack on a Kali Puja pandal in Nagaon in which 24 people were injured, two of them seriously.

The militants are suspected to belong to the Karbi Longri North Cachar Hills Liberation Front (KLNLF). They struck while celebrations were under way, hurling a grenade at a mandap near Lanka railway station.

?The militant outfit behind the incident is yet to be identified though we suspect the Karbi group is involved,? Nagaon superintendent of police K.K. Sarma said. He added that ?four persons have been picked up on suspicion?.

Sarma said most of the injured had been wounded by shrapnels. Nineteen of them were admitted to the Hojai-based Haji Abdul Memorial Hospital. The two seriously injured persons include a 26-year-old pregnant woman.

On Thursday, the anti-talks KLNLF detonated a grenade at a shop at Umrangshu, 30 km from Lanka town. A schoolteacher was killed and four others seriously injured in the blast. The KLNLF today said both Delhi and Dispur have failed to fulfil their three-point charter of demands within Thursday?s deadline and hence it had no other option but go ahead with its indefinite general strike from Monday evening.

The Dima Halam Daoga (DHD) and the United People?s Democratic Solidarity (UPDS) have denied their involvement in yesterday?s incident.

Bombs found: The army today recovered two bombs from a private bus near Halawating police station in Sivasagar district, reports our Jorhat correspondent.
