Guwahati, July 22: An Assam football player has moved the All India Football Federation alleging that a coach of Rhino FC, Golaghat, has threatened that he would not allow the player a transfer to Oil India FC after the player turned down his demand for contract money.
In a letter to the AIFF, a copy of which is with The Telegraph, the player, Arup Baruah, of Tezpur United FC said that he had joined Rhino FC Golaghat in 2014-15 under the tutelage of coach Santanu Bosu.
"But during May this year, I got an offer from Oil India FC to join the club and being loyal to Rhino FC I immediately informed coach Bosu who handles all official work of Rhino FC. But subsequently, I was transferred to Tezpur United during the inter-district clearance 2015-16 to play for the Assam State Premier League," he said in the letter.
Baruah further said he joined Tezpur United FC on May 29 and that the club paid him Rs 5,000 as token money. "But on demand, Bosu took Rs 2,000 from me and said that I had to pay more upon receipt of the final contract money. During the final payment, Bosu took Rs 3,000 from the Rs 15,000 I got from the club. I made requests for release papers and he agreed to release me on the condition that I agree to pay him Rs 2,000 per month from the contract money from Oil," he said.
"When I disagreed, he threatened that he would not let me take the transfer," Baruah said. Tezpur FC had released Baruah from the club from July 12. The Assam Football Association today slammed the coach saying that action would be taken against him. Calls and texts to Bosu went unattended.
