Imphal, Oct. 29: Manipur?s first chief minister M.K. Priyobrata Singh breathed his last at 9 am at the age of 95 at his Palace Compound residence.
The government declared a holiday today and a state funeral organised.
Priyobrata Singh was bedridden after an accident 10 years ago during one of his visits to Gandhi Ashram in Imphal East district. He was a bachelor.
Scores of people, including chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh, political leaders, officials and public leaders gathered at his residence to pay their last respects.
