Guwahati: The state-level contest of Election Commission-organised National Elections Quiz 2017-18 was held by the Kamrup (metro) district administration here on Monday morning.

The quiz, Empowering Young and Future Electors, targets students from 14 to 17 years as the voting age starts from 18. It is an all-India, inter-school quiz for students from Classes IX to XII, who are the future electors.

The EC quiz is being held in the state for the first time.

Altogether 48 schools from the state participated in the preliminary round, conducted by quiz master Sailen Baishya. Twenty schools were selected for the second round of which six qualified for the finals. Delhi Public School, Numaligarh, won the 1st prize and will represent Assam in the semi-final to be held in Delhi in January. Nonoi High School, Nagaon, and Anundoram Barooah Academy, Bijni, stood second and third respectively.

All participants were given a certificate and books while the winners were awarded trophies.
