Cops drub Eastern Sporting

Imphal, Jan. 10: Manipur Police Sports Club registered a 2-1 goal win against Eastern Sporting Union in the second leg of the 5th Manipur State League at Khuman Lampak main stadium today.

Kh. Kenneth Chiru provided Eastern Sporting Union with the first goal in the 29th minute after he anticipated a cross from S. Ratan Singh.

Manipur Police Sports Club scored the equaliser in the 66th minute.

Thangminlian dropped the ball at the Eastern goalmouth, where it hit another Eastern player to bounce back to the keeper, who fumbled and Hemkhosoun Thouthang headed it home to level the margin. The goal energised the policemen and I. Nilakumar tapped back a goalmouth pass where Thangminlian shot home a grounder in the 72nd minute.

In another match, United Sporting Association held current league leader Tiddim Road Athletic Union to a goalless draw, to share a point each.

Cross-country run

Manipur Police SC athlete W. Manoranjan Singh claimed the top spot in the senior men’s open 10km of the State Cross Country run held at Canchipur.

SAI RC athlete S. Premila Devi took the women’s open title.

Veteran’s table tennis: Th. Dharmendra and W. Premila Devi bagged the men and women’s singles titles of the 11th Manipur Veteran Table Tennis Championship at Indoor Stadium, DM College campus. Dharmendra defeated Joychandra 3-0 while Premila overcame Sorojini Devi in the finals.
