Guwahati, May 21: Hosts City Cricket Coaching Centre (C) and Guwahati Cricket Coaching Centre (GCCC) today registered facile victories in their respective matches of the 10th Golap Hazarika All-India Invitation under-16 Twenty20 Cricket Tournament at Dispur ground here.

In the first match of the day, CCCC (C) inflicted a six-wicket defeat on National Talent Heritage Cricket Coaching Centre. In the other match played later today, GCCC outplayed Santipur Cricket Academy by six wickets.

CCCC (C) boys won the toss and put National Talent in to bat. The bowlers justified their skipper’s decision by taking wickets at regular intervals and maintaining a good line and length. As a result, the National Treasure boys were bundled out for a modest total of 96 in 16.5 overs.

Angshuman Das was the only batsman of the National Treasure team who was able to put up some resistance. He scored 36 runs. The rest of the batsmen surrendered cheaply. Kailash Roy of CCCC scalped three for 16 and Akash Purkayastha breathed fire down the opponents’ neck with his impressive haul of three for nine.

In reply, the CCCC boys romped home losing four wickets in 14 overs.

Pawan Kumar Singh and Kailash Roy scored 21 runs each for CCCC. Roy was eventually adjudged Man of the Match. Bhargav Das of National Treasure claimed a wicket conceding 22 runs.

In the other match, GCCC won the toss and put Santipur CA in to bat. Santipur scored at a brisk pace, but lost too many wickets in their bid to accelerate the scoring rate. They were all out for 142 in 17.3 overs. The total, however, proved too little to intimidate the GCCC batsmen who overcame the total in 19.3 overs losing only four wickets.

Mehraj Ali topscored for Santipur with 23 runs and Parmeswar Basumatary chipped in with a cameo 21.

Sanju Barman of GCCC took three wickets for 29 runs, while M. Murthy claimed two victims for 18 runs.

For GCCC, Deep Kakaty topscored with a flamboyant 61 to be later adjudged Man of the Match. Kiran Kumar chipped in with 19. Asif Hussain of Santipur picked up three wickets for 19 runs.

In tomorrow’s matches, Bulan Cricket Academy, Calcutta will play CCCC (B) and Bournvita Cricket Academy, Calcutta will meet Santipur Cricket Academy.
