Chandigarh drub Tamil Nadu 11-0

Hockey Chandigarh humiliated Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu 11-0 to sail into the semi-final in the sixth Hockey India Sub-Junior Men's National Championship, 2016, (Division-A) at Khuman Lampak hockey stadium.

Imphal, May 18: Hockey Chandigarh humiliated Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu 11-0 to sail into the semi-final in the sixth Hockey India Sub-Junior Men's National Championship, 2016, (Division-A) at Khuman Lampak hockey stadium.

Hockey Chandigarh registered two wins, the second one was against Hockey Haryana 13-0 and lost to Hockey Punjab 5-4 from Pool B winning six points.

Skipper Maninder Singh scored the opening goal for Hockey Chandigarh in the fifth minute of play. Singh smashed home four more goals at regular intervals.

Sahibjeet Singh struck his hattrick while Hashim, Amandeep Singh and Angadbir Singh chipped in with one each for the mammoth victory.

In another match, Sports Authority of India held Hockey Jharkhand to a 2-2 draw to share a point each.

SAI got the break when skipper Michael Topno fetched the opening goal in the sixth minute but Hockey Jharkhand fetched the equaliser in the 21st minute when Joseph Kongari scored a goal.

In the later stages of the match, Ravi Kumar consolidated the lead for SAI in the 39th minute but Joseph Kongari neutralised it for Hockey Jharkhand in the 44th minute to level the score 2-2.

The other matches of the day saw Hockey Gangpur Odisha thrash Hockey Andhra Pradesh 16-1 , Madhya Pradesh Hockey beat Delhi Hockey 6-0 and Hockey Karnataka beat Hockey Maharastra 5-3.
