Bwisagu festival celebrated

Kokrajhar, April 25: The 12th edition of Kokrajhar Ronjali Bwisagu Festival was celebrated at Tengapara in Kokrajhar which featured colourful programmes spread over two days.

Several competitions, including bwisagu dance and playing of traditional Bodo musical instruments like sifung (flute), kham, serja, were held in the celebrations. In the bwisagu dance competition, Anjali Basumatary of Tengapara was adjudged the bwisagi kungri (bwisagi queen). She won a gold crown defeating four contestants in the final round yesterday. She also received a cash prize of Rs 5,000.

Uraidao Basumatary of Ramfalbil was adjudged the kham and serja jwhwlao (hero), while Chakramni Narzary of Putimari chosen the sifung jwhwlao for their performance.

On the concluding day of the programme, a souvenir, Bwisagi, was also released by Dhwajendra Nath Brahma, president, Kokrajhar unit of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha.
